Included

  • 70GB of fast data a month in Canada, the US and Mexico.

After that you are slowed down, not charged extra.

    see their exact words
“70GB data in Canada-U.S.-Mexico. Unlimited data at reduced speeds thereafter⁴”
  • 1GB of data in 120+ other countries.

Note this is a separate, smaller pot than your 70GB at home.

    see their exact words
“1GB data in 120+ Roam Beyond global destinations¸”
  • Texting: unlimited, anywhere in the world.

    see their exact words
    “Unlimited global texting.”
  • Calling the US or Mexico while you are in Canada: free, unlimited.

    see their exact words
“Unlimited calls to the U.S./Mexico from Canada.”
  • Your phone works in over 120 countries, with no extra fee per day.

On plans that include Roam Beyond. A two-week trip to a country on the list costs you nothing extra for calls, texts or data. Most carriers charge you for every single day you use your phone abroad.

    see their exact words
“Our plans with Roam Beyond let you enjoy data plus unlimited talk and text in 120+ global destinations. All with no daily roaming fees.”
  • Calling home to Canada from one of those 120+ countries: free, unlimited.

Calling local numbers in the country you are visiting is free too, and so is any call you receive. Careful though: this only works in the 120+ countries on the list.

    see their exact words
“Unlimited calls to Canada and to local numbers within your current Roam Beyond destination. Unlimited incoming calls.”
  • If Freedom adds a new country to the list, you get it automatically.

You do not have to buy anything again.

    see their exact words
“New destinations will be added to your existing plan or pass automatically.”
  • A free text and email when you start using your phone in another country.

You get another one when you have used 70% of your data, so you are not guessing.

    see their exact words
“you'll receive email and text notifications when a line starts roaming and when it reaches 70% of its data limit”

Not included

  • Pay your bill late and they charge 2% a month — that is 26.82% a year.

It compounds monthly, and it runs from the first bill the amount appeared on until you clear it. For comparison, most credit cards in Canada sit around 20%.

    see their exact words
“you will be charged interest calculated and compounded monthly on the outstanding amount at the rate of 2% per month (26.82% per year)”
  • If your payment bounces, they can add an admin fee on top.

The amount is not stated anywhere in the terms, so you will not know what it is until it lands on your bill.

    see their exact words
“If your payment is rejected by your financial institution, we may charge you an administrative fee.”
  • Live in Alberta? A $0.95 fee every month for 911 service.

    see their exact words
“In Alberta, a $0.95 monthly 911 levy applies.”
  • Calling a country you are not standing in: $3.50 a minute.

Here is what that means. Say you are in Mexico, and you call someone in the United States. Mexico is where you are. Canada is home. The United States is neither — so that call costs $3.50 every minute. Talk for an hour and it is $210.

    see their exact words
“Calls made to any other destination outside of your current roaming destination are $3.50/min.”
  • Travel somewhere NOT on the 120-country list, and even calling home costs money.

The price is different in every country, so there is no single number. Look up the country before you fly.

    see their exact words
“Calls made to your current roaming destination or back to Canada are charged based on your current roaming destination’s talk pay-per-use rate.”
  • Calling a satellite phone: $10 a minute.

Rare, but worth knowing. Satellite phones are used on ships and in very remote places.

    see their exact words
“Calls made to a satellite phone number are $10/min.”
  • Once your data runs out abroad, your internet stops until you buy more.

This is not what happens at home. In Canada you just get slower. Outside Canada, the US and Mexico, you get nothing at all.

    see their exact words
“if your applicable data allotment is depleted within the current billing cycle, you will not have access to any additional data in those destinations unless you purchase a one-time data pass”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025
  • Used up the data on a 30-day travel pass? You start paying by the megabyte.

That happens even if the pass has days left on it. The pass being valid does not mean the data is still free.

    see their exact words
“Once you’ve used up the data included in your Roam Beyond pass, data pay-per-use charges apply, even if you are within your pass’ validity period.”
  • Calls after you use up your travel minutes — calling just stops working.

It switches back on when your next bill starts.

    see their exact words
“If you exceed that number of minutes we will suspend your voice roaming services until the end of the applicable billing cycle.”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025

Everything else you should know

Could cause you problems

  • Unpaid for 60 days and your account can be sent to a collections agency.

They can also bill you for the cost of chasing you. Collections can affect your credit.

    see their exact words
“If your account remains unpaid for 60 days, we may refer your account to a collections agency.”
  • Use your phone mostly outside Freedom’s coverage for two months running, and they can shut it off.

This is not about using too much. It is about where you are. Say you move to a small town where Freedom has no towers, so your phone borrows another network nearly all the time. Two months of that, and they are allowed to cancel you.

    see their exact words
“Our services and rate plans are designed for you to use predominantly in our network coverage area. If the majority of your voice, text or data usage over consecutive billing cycles is not in our network coverage area, we may terminate your service or restrict your ability to receive service on our third party service provider’s networks.”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025
  • Freedom can decide your usage is “too much” and cancel your plan.

There is no number written down anywhere for what counts as too much. They decide.

    see their exact words
“if we determine, in our sole discretion, that your usage is excessive or unreasonable, we reserve the right to further limit or restrict your usage or to terminate your subscription to your specific plan or the Services generally and to refuse to provide you Services thereafter”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025
  • They can shut your service off without telling you first.

They say they will try to warn you. They also say they do not have to.

    see their exact words
“We will use reasonable efforts to notify you if we decide to take such actions, but we also reserve the right to do so without notice.”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025
  • If they ask you for a deposit, you cannot use your phone abroad at all until it is settled.

Deposits are usually asked for when someone has no credit history in Canada — which often means newcomers, who are exactly the people most likely to call home.

    see their exact words
“Deposit customers are not eligible to use international roaming or conference calling until the terms of the deposit account have been completed.”
  • The price guarantee covers your plan price only. Everything else can still go up.

Not covered: taxes, the 911 fee, pay-as-you-go charges, travel passes, add-ons, and your phone payments.

    see their exact words
“The Price Freeze Promise only covers the wireless rate plan price itself, and not any other charges or fees, such as taxes, levies, pay-per-use charges, one-time passes, add-ons, device financing charges (such as MyTab and TradeUp charges)”
  • When your fast data runs out, your internet slows to 256 kbps.

Email, texting and normal web pages still work. Video, video calls and big downloads mostly will not.

    see their exact words
“Freedom Network data speeds down to 256 kilobits per second for downloads and 128 kilobits per second for uploads.”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025
  • Outside Freedom’s own towers, it slows to 128 kbps — half that again.

If Freedom has no towers where you live, this is the speed you will actually be living with once your data runs out.

    see their exact words
“Nationwide Network data speeds down to 128 kilobits per second for downloads and 64 kilobits per second for uploads.”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025
  • Keep using data after being slowed, and they can slow you again — to 64 kbps.

At that speed most apps simply stop working.

    see their exact words
“we reserve the right to slow your speeds down to a maximum of 64 kilobits per second for downloads and 32 kilobits per second for uploads”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025
  • They can take unlimited calling away, or move you to a plan without it.

What can trigger it: calling far more than a normal person, lots of short calls to different numbers, or using your line for something other than talking to people.

    see their exact words
“If your use of our unlimited voice services (including conference calling or call forwarding) is deemed to have a negative impact on Freedom Mobile or our partners’ network and everyone’s ability to enjoy our services, Freedom Mobile may, at its option, terminate or suspend your service, or change your plan to one with no unlimited usage components.”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025
  • Every call cuts off after 2 hours. You have to call back.

    see their exact words
“All calls will be disconnected and require a re-dial after a 2 hour duration.”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025

Better than most carriers

  • Your plan price will never go up.

As long as you stay on the same plan, the price stays put — and Freedom puts that in writing. Worth reading next to the exclusions above: it covers the plan price, not the extras.

    see their exact words
“Price Freeze Promise is our guarantee that the price of a wireless rate plan (prior to any discounts or credits) that any customer subscribes to and maintains will never incur a price increase.”
  • You never get charged extra for using too much data in Canada, the US or Mexico.

They slow you down instead of billing you. Surprise data charges are the most common way a phone bill blows up, and that cannot happen here.

    see their exact words
“Even after you’ve used your monthly data allotment, you can still use data at reduced speeds in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico (as applicable) without additional charges.”
    In effect since:
    December 2, 2025
  • Your fast data stays fast even on another company’s towers — up to 100 Mbps.

    see their exact words
“at 4G speeds (up to 100 Mbps) on partner networks in Nationwide, the U.S., and Mexico”

Plus 21 rights the law gives you anyway

These apply whatever your contract says, with any Canadian carrier.
